One-Day Home Improvements for President’s Day

Hi friends,

Happy President’s Day! How are you celebrating? If you’re hanging out indoors on this February day and feeling handy, we have some ideas for easy home improvement projects you can tackle today.

Hang up photos and art

Adding some pizazz to your home’s walls is one of the easiest ways to liven up your space. All you need is a drill, some nails, and a level to make a major impact on a dark, dusty corner or large blank wall. Adding mirrors to the mix is another great way to brighten up a boring area.

Replace cabinet and drawer hardware

Are your drawer and cabinet pulls leaving a lot to be desired? Shop for new, funky ones and swap them out in just a few minutes. This is a great way to add some personality that will have a major impact on your space, with relatively little effort.

Update your light fixtures

Perfecting your lighting can have a huge effect on the overall ambiance of your home. Whether you’re looking to hang pendant lights above a dining table, dreaming of a new chandelier for the hallway, or searching for the perfect soft lighting for your reading nook, these seemingly small changes can completely transform any room.

Switch up your window treatments

New curtains or blinds are like a face lift for your home. Consider how much light you want to let in, and any other practical considerations like–will the room be used for sleeping? If so, blackout shades are a great option. Is the room more of a living space or for entertainment? In this case, sheer curtains or more decorative treatments might work nicely.

Paint an accent wall

If you’re looking for a project to take up more of your day, painting an accent wall or under-used corner is a great hands-on option. Consider the vibe and mood you want to set, then get painting.

Until next time,
